Immunology is a broad branch of biomedical science that covers the study of all aspects of the immune system in all organisms. It deals with the physiological functioning of the immune system in states of both health and disease; malfunctions of the immune system in immunological disorders (autoimmune diseases, hypersensitivities, immune deficiency, transplant rejection); the physical, chemical and physiological characteristics of the components of the immune system in vitro, in situ, and in vivo. Immunology has applications in several disciplines of science, and as such is further divided.

What are some recommended college Biology classes, upper level, that I should take to complete my BS?
Q. I searched around on here and couldn't find anything. I'm just curious as to what classes are tedious and boring, and what classes I would be interested in. I'm planning on graduating Cum Laude, and I really don't want to screw my GPA up. I have about a year and a half left until graduation. I work for an eye doctor, I don't necessarily plan on going into a medical field, but I am interested in those types of classes (i.e. Human Cadaver, Clinical Immunology...etc). I also am quite interested in Genetics. I am required to take Genetics as a core class, but I also am looking at Population Genetics. What classes are nightmares and what classes are, well, entertaining? Of course I'll need someone with a degree to answer this...Thanks :)… [cont.]

Writing in the Journal of Virology, Dandekar said the study was the first to explain why the drug cocktails taken by HIV patients so often fail to work completely. "The real battle between the virus and exposed individuals is happening in the gut immediately after viral infection," she said in a statement. "We need to be focusing our efforts on improving treatment of gut mucosa, where massive destruction of immune cells is occurring. Gut-associated lymphoid tissue accounts… [cont.]
